Lynda Green, the founder of Be Exceptional, has been teaching dance for over 30 years in various settings. Lynda has also been working with people with special needs in different capacities for 25 years. She combined her two passions and began leading recreational classes for individuals with exceptional needs out of her family’s dance studio in Antioch, California 15 years ago. The social events were created to help families/caretakers take a break; they have become a great socializing opportunity for our community. The classes and social events evolved into Be Exceptional and was recently established as a non-profit program.
This unique program uses a combination of voluntary staff that have experience working with people with disabilities and youth that have proven they care about the people in the program. The “buddy” system Lynda has established at Be Exceptional provides volunteers and participants the opportunity to grow together. At Be Exceptional we promote a family-like environment and are supportive of everyone involved in our program.
